Flooring Trends for 2022

Elegant living room with herringbone wood flooring, modern rug design, and lots of windows

A great way to update a room or your entire home is to install new flooring. While flooring used to be somewhat of an afterthought, it can now be the room’s focal point. That’s because the latest flooring trends are all about color and patterns that bring character to a space.  If you’ve decided you’re ready to update your flooring, here are some of the biggest flooring trends we are currently seeing:

Tile

There are so many options when it comes to tile flooring. Tile flooring is an excellent option for the homeowner looking for a durable, low-maintenance flooring option.

Tile is versatile and has a range of price points that can work for any budget. Marble, ceramic, and mosaics are all excellent choices that will give your room a fresh, updated look.

The latest tile trends are all about bringing color into a space. Bright jewel-toned mosaic tiles in colors like emerald green, sapphire blue, and if even bright yellows are really popular choices at the moment. Having bold colors and patterns work well in smaller spaces like bathrooms or mudrooms, where they can take center stage without being overwhelming.

Hardwood

Hardwood floors are a timeless choice. Hardwood flooring is a classic flooring choice, but in recent years, they have reemerged as one of the most highly sought-after flooring choices.  Hardwood floors work with just about any home decor style.

Patterned wood is something new that looks amazing in a living room or foyer. Installing the wood in herringbone, basketweave, or Versailles patterns will add an unexpected pop of character to your flooring. The intricacy of these patterns will make the room look classy and interesting.

Carpet

If you want to make a room feel cozier, there is no better way to do so than by adding carpeting. Carpet allows you to easily add color and texture to a room.

Carpet works well in bedrooms and living rooms – especially if you have little ones who topple over easily since carpeting tends to be a softer landing than tile or wood floors.

If you’re feeling adventurous, one of the latest trends we are seeing is boldly patterned carpeting. Think geometric shapes in bright colors. If that sounds like too much for you, you can’t go wrong with a patterned carpet in a neutral shade.

Concrete

If you’re looking for an out-of-the-ordinary flooring choice, concrete could be precisely what you need.

Concrete floors can be stained nearly any color, are extremely low maintenance and are very durable. This makes them a great option for higher traffic areas like the kitchen or living room. Concrete floors are also an environmentally friendly choice, which is always a good thing!

Since patterns are trending, you could even consider a patterned finish on your concrete floors.

You can have them stamped to resemble wood flooring or incorporate graphics into the floor. The options are endless when it comes to concrete floors. Have more questions about flooring?
