Tim Ellis is president and co-founder in 2002 of T.W. Ellis. Tim started his career as a union carpenter apprentice. He completed his four year apprenticeship with the Baltimore Carpenters Union and became a carpenter journeyman. Tim has over twenty years’ proven experience in the industry, ranging from lead carpenter, responsible for building the projects, to project management, to designing and estimating the projects. Along the way, he also earned his Associate of Science in Business Administration degree, and Associate of Applied Science in Construction Management degree. He is a proud veteran of the Maryland Army National Guard.
At T.W. Ellis, Tim is responsible for estimating, designs, material take-off, marketing and the daily operations of the company. Tim likens his position in the company to that of an educator, not a sales person. “I like to educate our clients on the process required for their projects,” Tim says. “I want them to understand what will take them from where they are to where they want to be.” For example, he is always up front when describing some of the disruptions that clients may face to their home life during remodeling. Our clients repeatedly say that one of the things they like so much about Tim is that he is an excellent communicator.
Because of Tim’s earlier involvement in the commercial side of the industry, he is very adept at estimating our clients’ projects. As a Certified Professional Estimator, it is customary for Tim to give a prospective client detailed specifications and drawings when he quotes a project. “I never want to get into a contract where I haven’t covered my quote with serious details,” Tim explains. This another aspect of T.W. Ellis that receives rave reviews from clients.
Tim states that his #1 goal at T.W. Ellis is to make our clients happy. To that end, he continues to emphasize honesty, dependability, high-quality craftsmanship, and professionalism in all aspects of the company’s work. Tim is a long-standing member of the Home Builders Association of Maryland (HBAM) and currently is President of the Remodelers Council. He has gone the extra mile to earn a wide variety of certifications and accreditations in the building industry, which signifies his high level of knowledge and expertise. These include Certified Master Green Professional (CMGP), Certified Master Deck Professional (CMDP), and Certified Master Remodeler (CMR). According to Tim, “T.W. Since T.W. Ellis is a family-owned and operated company, Tim gets to spend a lot of time with members of his family during the day, including his father, brother, uncle and cousin who are all part of the team. After work, he loves spending his free time coaching his son’s soccer team, driving his girls to their gymnastics and dance lessons, and enjoying a good movie with his beautiful wife.
