Home Addition Outside DC Metro

Found near the Washington DC Metro area, this one room school house is over 100 years old. It was converted to a residence in the 1920s when interior walls and a ceiling were added.

The owners were struggling with how to add an addition since it seemed every option would require access through one of the bedrooms. T.W. Ellis came up with the plan to change the purpose of the existing master bedroom into a playroom/family room and make the master part of the addition. The client was thrilled with this idea, as it provided them with more space than expected and created an unobtrusive way to access to the new addition.
