Transforming Renovation - Howard County, Maryland

When our client purchased this estate-style home on a local golf course recently, they loved the exterior but the interior was boring and underwhelming.

They dreamed of completely remodeling the inside to incorporate fine details that would convey elegance and create interesting focal points in each room. They also wanted a floor plan that would make optimal use of the existing space. To accomplish this, they contacted local architect Michael P. Dolce to help with the design and T.W. Ellis to handle the renovation and construction.

The results were a sweeping open staircase to the second floor upgraded with elegantly detailed balusters and refinished oak stairway treads, a series of columns and arches that created a sophisticated look in the living room, and a welcoming library with beautiful floor-to-ceiling bookcases. There is even a secret passage that opens into the new semi-isolated office.

Additional renovations moved the dining room to a larger space and redesigned the old dining room into a music room, complete with piano. On the back of the home T.W. Ellis added a mudroom, a large laundry room, a powder room and a multi-purpose craft room.
