Kitchen Remodeling - Monkton, Maryland

This small Cape Cod-style house is a great home but the couple realized they needed to update and expand the living space to have room for entertaining family and friends. The client used to be a professional chef, and wanted professional appliances in the kitchen where he could create gourmet meals for their guests. After interviewing several remodeling contractors in the Baltimore area, they choose T.W. Ellis to handle this remodel.

We worked on several areas of the home including the kitchen, a master suite addition and a new entryway and once the remodel was complete the size of the home was double the original. The wall that separated the tiny kitchen from the living room was removed, and a support beam was added. This enlarged the kitchen and allowed traffic to flow smoothly throughout the first floor public areas. The exposed beams create a charming rustic look that fits perfectly in the rural setting and makes the addition look like it’s a part of the original design.

The kitchen features gorgeous soapstone on the island and the countertops. The backsplash displays an interesting pattern of glass subway tile separated by metal pencil tile. The cabinets are from Echelon and the gas range is a powerful GE Monogram. Solid hardwood flooring throughout the kitchen and living room integrate the two spaces visually into one large open area.
