5 Ideas to Inspire Your Powder Room Design

Elegant powder room design with marble tile walls and round mirrors

The kitchen may be the heart of the home, and the living room is great for entertaining, but an often overlooked part of the home deserves more attention – the powder room.

The powder room is a small space where you can make a major statement since you don’t have to commit to renovating and decorating a large space. Need some inspiration? Let’s look at some of our favorite powder room design schemes.

Glamorous powder room design with unique gold bar chandelier, gold framed mirror, and marble backsplash

Glamorous

Just because a powder room is small doesn’t mean it can’t be glamorous. Starting with your walls, you can install elegant wallpaper with florals or an intricate pattern. Your vanity and sink could be marble, making the space look and feel luxurious.

The lighting in a glamorous powder room design is especially important. We love the idea of a fancy overhead chandelier or luxurious sconces beside a sizeable frameless mirror to add to the ambiance. Flooring can be more simplistic, with hardwood or something similar, allowing the rest of the fixtures to shine.

Rustic

No man cave? Why not turn your powder room into a rustic retreat? You can line the walls with unfinished oak shiplap to create an interesting, rustic feel. Your sink could be a hearty material like soapstone or even concrete. Natural stone flooring will complete the look and make it feel like you’re in the middle of the woods.

Bold

The powder room is a great place to get creative with bright, bold tones. Installing floor-to-ceiling tiles in a colorful, geometric pattern immediately draws the eye into your space. A floating wooden vanity paired with a unique mirror will make the space feel modern without looking busy. You can add shelves above the toilet with unique knick-knacks and artwork to complete the room.

Vintage

Including antiques in the powder room design is an easy way to give the space a ton of personality. You could pair an antique mirror with a vintage table or desk as a vanity. If you want to really get into a retro theme, you could use small circular ceramic tiles for flooring. Complete the space with some vintage artwork, and you’ll have a powder room that can double as a time machine!

Keep It Simple

Maybe you don’t want an over-the-top powder room design, and that’s okay! Keeping the powder room simple with a wooden vanity, a neutral color scheme, wide-planked tile floors, and a large mirror may be all you need for a space that feels put together. However you choose to design your powder room, we are here to help! Whether you’re looking to make a statement or just to put together a functional space, we can turn your ideas into a reality.
